Three-year Agreement Ratified by PalFleet Teamsters

On Thursday, February 2nd 2017, Members at PalFleet overwhelmingly ratified a new three-year contract. The new Agreement includes substantial wage increases, expanded funeral language and a number of non-economic improvements to provide stability and fairness on the shop floor.
Perhaps the largest gain was the movement to a new health insurance plan. Along with providing superior benefits to the existing plan, members with their families on their insurance will see a tremendous reduction in out of pocket costs and payroll deductions. Along with the new insurance plan, PalFleet Teamsters will receive a bonus to offset any costs incurred during the “transition” from the old plan to the new, which must be completed by May 1st, 2017.
Preparedness was key in obtaining the contract that the members deserved for all their hard work. Planning for negotiations began several months ago. This included economic research, document requests and inquiries into alternatives to the costly healthcare plan the company had previously offered. The months prior to negotiations also included multiple contract meetings and increased contact with PalFleet Teamsters on and off the shop floor.
“These guys stick together,” said Business Agent Jay Dennis. “Their solidarity and strength were crucial to this tremendous victory.”
The negotiating committee was tireless in their representation of their fellow Teamsters. “Having a good Committee is what delivers a contract worthy of the membership,” said Dennis. “These guys live the job everyday and have the shop floor knowledge and experience that was needed to explain the practical application of our proposals to the company.”
President Zuckerman and the rest of the Teamsters 89 E-Board wishes to congratulate and thank the Teamsters who made up the PalFleet Negotiating Committee:
