Labor Secretary Visits Local 89 Members at UPS LCH
Posted On: Sep 19, 2021
On Thursday, September 16th United States Secretary of Labor Marty Walsh performed a walkthrough of the UPS LCH facility alongside Teamsters Local 89 Trustees Robert Colone and James DeWeese and met with a large gathering of Package Car Drivers.
The day prior, Secretary Walsh met and spoke with Local 89 Vice President Jeff Cooper and dozens of other Louisville labor leaders at an event at IBEW Local 369.
Secretary Walsh previously served as the Mayor of Boston, Massachusetts. Before that he was President of Laborers’ International Union of North America (LIUNA) Local 223 and led the Boston Building Trades. He is the first card carrying union member to serve as Secretary of Labor in decades, and his history as a union leader have makes him an incredible advocate for workers and unions. We could ask for no better champion as head of the United States Department of Labor.
We are proud to have had Secretary Walsh visit Local 89 members and wish to thank him for taking time to do so.
