Last evening the US Senate passed a bipartisan stimulus bill aimed at helping the American people during the COVID-19 crisis. While this bill must still pass the US House of Representatives and be signed by the President, it is likely to do so.
Although the final bill may contain differences from the Senate version that was passed, it currently contains several important provisions for working people.
Two of these provisions are direct stimulus checks that will be sent to working people, and a massive expansion of unemployment insurance for those who have lost their jobs, been laid off, or furloughed as a result of COVID-19.
Once the bill passes the House and is signed by the President, we will update members with more details. For now, those who are curious about what sort of check they could receive based on the current Senate bill can use a calculator created by the Washington Post which gives an estimate of what your stimulus check could look like.
