Allied Ready Mix Contract Rejected by 100% Vote
Aug 10, 2016

Aug 19, 2015

In a stunning display of solidarity the 38 members of Allied Ready Mix unanimously rejected the company’s Final Offer on Wednesday night. A meeting before the vote began at 6 PM and was conducted by Teamsters Local 89 Business Agent’s Jeff Cooper and Jim Kincaid, with assistance from Business Agents Jay Dennis and Rusty Villier, and the three members of the union negotiating committee; Eddie Pirrmann, Jonathan “JJ” James, and Billy Booth.

After only three days of negotiations the company submitted their “Final Offer” to the union negotiating committee. Finding the Final Offer unacceptable, the committee recommended rejection which the membership resoundingly agreed with.

Among the many reasons for the rejection of this contract were inadequate healthcare changes, vacation and overtime concessions, and the fact that the company had bargained in bad faith.

“They brought unreasonable requests to the bargaining table,” said JJ. “We didn’t ask for ridiculous changes.”

Eddie Pirrmann added, “We’re still willing to help, but they need to help us. We bent over backwards to help them in the last contract, and now they need to do the same for us.”

“We’ll reach out to the company and see if they’re willing to modify their last best and final offer,” said Business Agent Jeff Cooper. “We’ll sit back down at the table and hammer out an agreement that is fair for all parties involved. Our members sent a clear message voting down the company’s last best and final that they’re willing to do whatever it takes to achieve an agreement that’s fair.”

Teamsters Local 89 would like to encourage all members to share this post in an effort to raise awareness and show support and for our brothers at Allied Ready Mix during the next steps in their contract negotiations.

With solidarity we will win this fight!
