In a new low for UPS, management has sent letters to parents of Metro-College students in an attempt to get them to “encourage” their children to cast ballots in favor of the contract(s). Teamsters Local 89 STRONGLY CONDEMNS UPS and Company Vice President Mike Nepaul for their repugnant attempt to manipulate Worldport families. Through these actions, we have seen that UPS management has ZERO INTEGRITY and will stop at nothing to harass and deceive its workers. The Company has no boundaries in its campaign of vote suppression, and will go as low as scare parents who may not have the financial resources to pay for their children’s higher education.
Further, MetroCollege is a tax-payer funded program. Though UPS often attempts to perpetuate the falsehood that the company is 100% responsible for these funds, this is simply NOT TRUE. A VERY LARGE portion of the funds come from YOUR tax dollars. Teamsters Local 89 further condemns UPS for using government funds as a tool to scare young workers and their families into submission!
